Important
These Terms govern your relationship with the publisher of this publication. Substack is a separate platform provider and has its own terms and policies. Mandatory consumer rights cannot be excluded by these Terms.
1. About these Terms
These Terms of Use (”Terms”) apply when you access, read, subscribe to, purchase access to, comment on, participate in, or otherwise interact with the Tzveta Iordanova publication at https://tzvetaiordanova687134.substack.com/ and related publication features made available through Substack (the “Publication”).
The Publication is published by Tzveta Iordanova, trading as Alpha Combinator, a sole proprietorship registered in the Netherlands under KVK number 74507761 (”I”, “me”, “my”, or the “Publisher”). By subscribing or using paid or community features, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not purchase a paid subscription or use interactive features. You may still have rights that apply regardless of these Terms under mandatory law.
2. Relationship with Substack
The Publication is hosted and distributed using Substack. Your use of the Substack platform is also subject to Substack’s own Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Content Guidelines, payment rules, and other applicable platform policies.
These Terms govern the relationship between you and the Publisher concerning the Publication. Substack’s terms govern your separate relationship with Substack. If there is a conflict about the operation of the Substack platform itself, Substack’s applicable platform terms may control that issue; these Terms continue to govern the Publisher-reader relationship to the extent legally permitted.
3. Eligibility and age
The Publication is intended for readers aged 16 or older. You must be at least 16 to subscribe, purchase paid access, comment, use chat, submit content, or otherwise provide personal data to the Publisher through the Publication.
If local law requires a higher age or additional consent for a particular activity, that local requirement applies.
4. Free and paid subscriptions
4.1 Free subscriptions
Free subscribers may receive selected posts, emails, notes, announcements, or other content without a subscription fee. The scope and frequency of free content may change over time.
4.2 Paid subscriptions, billing and renewal
The Publication may offer monthly, annual, founding, promotional, trial, or other paid plans through Substack. The price, billing period, included benefits, applicable taxes, and any trial or promotional conditions are shown at or before checkout.
Unless the checkout or applicable platform terms state otherwise, recurring paid subscriptions renew automatically for the selected billing period until cancelled. You authorize the payment method used at checkout to be charged for recurring fees in accordance with the plan you select.
Prices and benefits may be changed prospectively. A price change will not be applied retroactively to an already-paid subscription period, and any notice required by applicable law or platform rules will be provided.
4.3 EU/EEA consumer withdrawal rights
If you are a consumer in the European Union or another jurisdiction that provides a statutory cooling-off or withdrawal right for distance contracts, you may have the right to withdraw from a paid subscription within the statutory period, typically 14 days from conclusion of the contract, without giving a reason.
To exercise a withdrawal right, you may use any legally compliant cancellation or withdrawal mechanism made available through Substack, or send an unequivocal withdrawal request to contact@tzvetaiordanova.com before the applicable deadline. Include enough information to identify the subscription.
If you expressly request that a service begin during a statutory withdrawal period, the legal consequences of that request will be those provided by mandatory law. For digital content supplied immediately, any loss of a withdrawal right applies only if all legally required conditions for that loss have been satisfied, including any required express consent and acknowledgement. Mere access to content does not waive a mandatory right where the law requires additional steps.
Nothing in these Terms limits any statutory consumer right of withdrawal, cancellation, reimbursement, conformity, or remedy.
4.4 Cancellation
You may cancel a recurring paid subscription using the cancellation controls available in your Substack account or other platform mechanism. Unless a statutory right, refund, or platform rule provides otherwise, cancellation normally prevents future renewal and paid access continues until the end of the period already paid for.
Cancelling a paid subscription does not necessarily unsubscribe you from free publication emails. You may separately unsubscribe from free emails using the unsubscribe controls provided in the email or your Substack settings.
4.5 Refunds
Payments processed through Substack are subject to Substack’s current Refund Policy and the rules of the relevant payment or app-store provider. Substack may automatically issue refunds in circumstances covered by its policy.
Outside Substack’s applicable refund process and mandatory legal rights, additional refunds are at the Publisher’s discretion. No additional voluntary money-back guarantee is offered unless expressly stated in writing for a specific offer.
Mandatory consumer rights always prevail over this refund provision.
4.6 Publishing frequency and discontinuation
The Publication does not promise a fixed publishing frequency, number of posts, or coverage of any particular topic unless a specific paid offer expressly states otherwise. The editorial programme may evolve.
If the Publication is permanently discontinued during a prepaid subscription period, any refund or other remedy required by mandatory law and Substack’s applicable platform rules will be respected.
5. Editorial scope and purpose
The Publication provides original research, synthesis, analysis, frameworks, models, commentary, and venture-oriented thinking across subjects that may include science, healthcare, oncology, longevity, innovation, venture building, execution, and performance.
The purpose is to examine evidence, systems, incentives, assumptions, uncertainties, implications, and possible future developments. Content may discuss emerging research, hypotheses, scenarios, commercial developments, companies, products, technologies, or policy questions.
6. Health, medical, oncology and longevity disclaimer
Not medical advice
Content concerning health, medicine, oncology, longevity, performance, treatments, diagnostics, biomarkers, supplements, technologies, or scientific research is for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or a substitute for care from a qualified healthcare professional.
Medical and scientific evidence can be incomplete, preliminary, conflicting, context-dependent, or later revised. Research discussed may include preclinical, observational, early-stage, or otherwise uncertain evidence. Individual risks, contraindications, interactions, medical histories, and treatment circumstances vary.
Do not start, stop, delay, or change medication, treatment, testing, supplementation, or medical care because of anything in the Publication. Seek advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional for decisions about your health or the health of another person.
No doctor-patient, clinician-patient, therapist-patient, or other healthcare professional relationship is created by reading, subscribing to, commenting on, or communicating through the Publication.
For a medical emergency, contact the emergency services or appropriate emergency healthcare provider in your location.
7. Investment, financial, venture, legal and tax disclaimer
Not investment or regulated professional advice
Content about companies, markets, venture building, financing, technologies, business models, valuation, strategy, or future opportunities is research and commentary. It is not investment, securities, financial, legal, tax, accounting, or other regulated professional advice.
Nothing in the Publication is an offer, solicitation, recommendation, endorsement, or instruction to buy, sell, hold, finance, or otherwise transact in any security, company, asset, product, or venture.
Forward-looking statements, scenarios, market assessments, forecasts, and venture ideas are inherently uncertain and may prove wrong. You are responsible for your own due diligence and decisions. Consult appropriately licensed or qualified advisers where advice is required.
8. No professional-client relationship
Reading the Publication or communicating with the Publisher through comments, chat, email replies, polls, or similar features does not create a medical, legal, financial advisory, investment advisory, consulting, fiduciary, agency, partnership, employment, or other professional-client relationship unless a separate written agreement expressly says so.
9. Accuracy, sources, updates and uncertainty
The Publisher aims to use reliable sources and to distinguish evidence from interpretation, but no representation is made that every statement is complete, error-free, current, or suitable for a particular purpose.
Sources can contain errors, datasets can change, studies can be retracted or reinterpreted, and facts can develop after publication. A post may not be updated merely because circumstances later change. Publication date and context matter.
Any views expressed are those of the author at the time of publication unless stated otherwise.
10. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, original articles, research, analysis, frameworks, graphics, models, compilations, and other original materials in the Publication are owned by the Publisher or used under licence and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
A subscription gives you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access the content made available under your subscription. It does not transfer ownership or grant commercial reuse rights.
Subject to applicable quotation, criticism, review, research, teaching, news-reporting, or other statutory exceptions, you may quote short excerpts with clear attribution and a link to the original publication where reasonably possible.
Without prior written permission, you may not republish substantial portions, reproduce paid content for others, resell or commercially exploit content, systematically copy or archive the Publication, bypass a paywall, or distribute access credentials.
11. Automated scraping, text and data mining, and AI training
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Publisher expressly reserves rights against automated scraping, systematic extraction, text and data mining, dataset creation, model training, model fine-tuning, retrieval-corpus creation, or other machine use of substantial Publication content for commercial AI or automated systems without prior written permission.
This reservation does not restrict uses that cannot legally be excluded, including any mandatory statutory exception. Nothing in this section prevents ordinary search-engine indexing or platform functionality authorized by the Publisher or Substack.
Requests for a licence or permission may be sent to contact@tzvetaiordanova.com.
12. Reader contributions and community features
The Publication may enable comments, likes, restacks, chat, polls, surveys, live discussions, media attachments, or other community features. Availability may change.
You retain ownership of content you submit. By submitting content through a Publication community feature, you grant the Publisher a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce, technically format, moderate, and distribute that contribution as reasonably necessary to operate, moderate, archive, and present the relevant discussion or feature through the Publication and Substack.
You must not submit content that is unlawful, threatening, harassing, defamatory, deceptive, discriminatory, privacy-invasive, infringing, malicious, spam, or otherwise contrary to Substack’s Content Guidelines. Do not post confidential information, private medical records, or another person’s personal data unless you have a lawful basis and the right to do so.
The Publisher may moderate, hide, remove, close, or restrict contributions or participation where reasonably considered necessary for safety, relevance, quality, legal compliance, or community management. Substack may separately enforce its own platform rules.
13. Third-party material and external links
The Publication may cite, quote, summarize, link to, or discuss third-party research, websites, datasets, products, companies, publications, or services. Those third parties are responsible for their own content and practices.
A link, citation, or discussion does not by itself constitute endorsement. The Publisher is not responsible for the availability, security, accuracy, or privacy practices of third-party services.
14. Commercial interests and future products
Research and ideas developed through the Publication may later contribute to books, tools, services, intellectual property, ventures, products, or other commercial activity offered by the Publisher or related projects.
Where content includes a paid sponsorship, affiliate relationship, or another material commercial relationship that legally requires disclosure, the Publisher will identify that relationship in an appropriate manner.
The existence of future commercial activity does not convert Publication content into individualized professional advice or a promise of future product availability.
15. Acceptable use
You must use the Publication lawfully and in a way that does not interfere with its operation, security, paid-access controls, or other readers.
• Do not attempt to gain unauthorized access to subscriber-only areas, accounts, systems, or data.
• Do not share paid access credentials or use a subscription primarily to provide paid content to non-subscribers.
• Do not scrape, crawl, harvest, or systematically extract content or subscriber/community information except where expressly permitted by law or written authorization.
• Do not use the Publication to distribute malware, spam, fraudulent material, or unlawful content.
• Do not impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation or authority.
16. Availability and changes
The Publication and Substack features may change, be interrupted, or become unavailable. The Publisher may change editorial themes, formats, community features, subscription benefits, or availability of archived content, subject to paid commitments and mandatory law.
The Publisher may suspend or terminate access where required by law, Substack policy, security concerns, payment failure, material breach of these Terms, or serious misuse of community features.
17. Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by mandatory law, the Publication is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. The Publisher does not guarantee that content will be error-free, complete, uninterrupted, or suitable for your individual circumstances.
You remain responsible for decisions you make based on the Publication. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Publisher is not liable for indirect, consequential, special, or purely economic losses arising from reliance on general editorial content where such liability can lawfully be excluded.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability arising from fraud, intent or deliberate misconduct, or any other liability protected by mandatory consumer law. If you are a consumer, these Terms do not reduce your mandatory statutory rights.
18. Privacy
The handling of personal data by the Publisher is described in the Publication’s Privacy Policy. Substack separately processes personal data for its own purposes under Substack’s Privacy Policy and, in some circumstances, processes data on behalf of the Publisher.
19. Complaints and contact
Questions, complaints, refund requests that are for the Publisher to decide, copyright/licensing requests, and other Publication matters can be sent to contact@tzvetaiordanova.com. You may also contact the Publisher by telephone at +31 6 2421 7804.
Please provide enough information to identify the relevant subscription, post, or issue. The Publisher will seek to address complaints reasonably and in accordance with applicable law.
20. Governing law and disputes
These Terms and the Publisher-reader relationship are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections that apply in their country of residence.
Subject to mandatory consumer jurisdiction rules, disputes may be brought before the competent courts of the Netherlands. A consumer may also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts made available by mandatory law in the consumer’s place of residence.
21. Changes to these Terms
The Publisher may update these Terms to reflect legal, platform, operational, editorial, or commercial changes. The updated version will state a new effective or last-updated date. Material changes affecting existing paid subscriptions will be communicated where required by law.
Changes will not retroactively remove rights that have already accrued under mandatory law.
22. General
If a provision of these Terms is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent legally possible. A failure to enforce a provision on one occasion does not waive the right to enforce it later.
These Terms, together with any specific paid offer terms shown at checkout and the applicable Substack platform terms, form the relevant terms governing use of the Publication. Where mandatory law provides stronger protection, mandatory law prevails.
